Trap Range

Our trap field is Amateur Trap Association (ATA) registered and sanctioned. The field has an automatic Pat-Trap machine with voice activated Canterbury callers.

Features include:

Spring, summer and fall leagues, that shoot on Tuesday and Thursday mornings as well as on Sunday afternoons
Handicap shooting points to 27 yards
Open shooting upon request (subject to field availabilities)

Additional notes: Shot larger than #7-1/2 is not permitted. No high brass or magnum loads.

Range Notes

Welcome to the Quaker Hill Rod and Gun Club Trap information page. Trap shooting was started in the late 1700s and has grown to be an international sport, hobby and pastime. Since then, Trap has become an Olympic event and organizations such as the Amateur Trap Association have been established.
Trap consists of a “squad” of 5 shooters lined up at 5 stations, shooting at clay targets (pigeons) that are launched into a field ahead of you. Straight trap is shot from the 16-yard line (from the back of the Trap house). When starting a “round” of trap, the shooter at station #1 shoots first by calling “Pull” thus releasing a target, then the remaining shooters will take their turns sequentially (2, 3, 4 & 5). When this sequence is performed 5 times, all shooters will advance to the next station (the shooter at station #5 will rotate to station #1). It is important to note that whoever started the round at station #1 will always be the first shooter after changing stations. When each member of the squad has shot from all 5 stations, the round is over, totaling 25 shots.
Our club has a trap league that shoots on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 am and on Sundays at 1 pm (during the summer we switch from Sundays to Saturdays, accommodating ATA event shooters). You do NOT have to be a member of the league to shoot with us. We welcome everyone, of all skill levels, to come shoot with us. What you will need to bring is a shotgun (12 gage highly recommended), a box of ammo and $4.00 per round (25 shots). Don’t forget eye and ear protection!

Range Events

09/08/26 - Start of Fall Trap league
The Fall trap league will Start on Sept. 8, 2026 and will run for 8 weeks ending on Nov. 1st. We shoot every Tuesday and Thursday at 9 am and Sunday at 1 pm. Cost to join is $20 which covers expenses for the end of League party, trophies and prizes. You do not have to join the league to shoot. All are welcome. The party is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 8th
